AUSTRALIA – Sydney, 3 July 2018:
Member of Parliament for Parramatta and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, Dr Geoff Lee, opened Shred-it’s the new Sydney plant. The Lord Mayor of Parramatta Councillor Andrew Wilson also attended the ceremony.
The new plant in the Parklands Estate in Rydalmere, New South Wales, is Shred-it’s largest in Australia. It is emblematic of the world leading information security company’s committed investment in Australia.
Robert Guice, Executive Vice President, International, Stericycle, said: “Today, be it from Perth to Adelaide, Melbourne to Sydney, or Brisbane to Darwin, Shred-it helps Australians protect their sensitive information.
“This launch will allow Shred-it to have an active role in assisting businesses and government agencies comply with stringent data privacy legislation by increasing their protective standards.”
The Rydalmere plant allows the company to continue its commitment to innovation and to environmentally friendly practices. It utilises Automatic Route Planning Software and Bar Code Scanning technology to assist with fleet efficiency and chain of custody in handling confidential documents. This will ensure less congestion, environmentally friendly and on-time service for customers.
Dr Geoff Lee MP, said: “The opening of the new Shred-it plant and the creation of jobs is an important boost to the state’s economy. It reassures us that New South Wales continues to attract businesses who want to grow.”
Robert Guice, Executive Vice President, International, Stericycle, continued: “Australia is a global leader in data protection and Shred-it aims to be a contributor to these standards.”
“This year Australia has introduced the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and the Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code. This demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to privacy and showcases Australia’s leadership on data security. We look forward to working with both the public and private sector to meet their data security needs.”
“The introduction of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation also places additional burden on Australian companies who are trading in the EU. Increasing regulatory requirements can make it difficult for companies to manage data security without support.”
“The high calibre of Australian businesses that have trusted us over the years motivates us to continue expanding and innovating in the market. Today marks another step in our journey to service more businesses in NSW and Australia.”
Lord Mayor of Parramatta Cr Andrew Wilson, said: “Shred-it has been in Australia for a number of years now, it’s a pleasure to welcome them to Rydalmere and to the City of Parramatta.”
